PARENTS IN PLAYMODE
WHAT IS PARENTS IN PLAYMODE?
Parents in Playmode is a community dance project for mothers and carers of children with special educational needs, autism and/or mental health challenges who live in Lambeth.
Parents meet during school time, without their children. Together, they move their bodies, build their fitness and confidence. Accompanied by live music, they learn dance movements, stretch and let go of body tension. They also create dances in groups using props like scarves, to express and release emotions.
Parents in Playmode is an opportunity to meet other parents, discuss challenges and share healthy snacks. The programme also provides activities to try at home and share with children.
All sessions are free, with refreshments provided.
FUNDERS
The development and pilot of Parents in Playmode was funded by Impact on Urban Health as part of the Community of Practice on Children's Mental Health.
The Abderrahim Crickmay Charitable Settlement funded a second series of sessions in 2025, and is supporting a third series in 2026.
