Come along, get inspired by other creatives, and use whatever emerges in the space to feed your own creativity. You can dance, move, observe, play music, sing, listen, draw, write, … Any combination of these activities is possible and encouraged! Facilitated by dance artist Yanaëlle Thiran and pianist Mikaela Livadiotis, co-directors of Company Concentric, this 2-hour jam session is usually split into 15- to 20-minute improvised sets, with short breaks in between.
What to wear and bring:
- Clothes you feel comfortable moving in (please avoid zips, belts, and jewellery which could hurt you or others while moving). Shoes are not allowed in the studio – we will ask you to take them off and leave them on the shoe rack before you walk in.
- Your instrument, notebook, drawing materials, camera and/or other creative tools.
- A water bottle (water fountains are available on all floors in the building).
Suggested donation:
£5 (concessions donation: £2). If this is a barrier to your participation, please let us know using the ‘contact’ button below. We can send you a code to join for free.
Why donate?
We run these improv jams voluntarily, without subsidies or grant funding. Any donation made will be gratefully received and help us cover the cost of the studio hire.
When and where:
Please note that The Place has two entrances: one is on Flaxman Terrace, and the other is on Duke’s Road. We will meet on the Flaxman Terrace side of the building, which gives easier access to the studio. Please aim to arrive about 10 minutes early for a prompt 6 pm start. You will find us on the stretching zone upstairs (also accessible through a lift).
